As we enter into Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the White House Black Market features stories of 25 Breast Cancer Survivors. Darlene Shorter is a true advocate on behalf of woman who have been plagued by a disease that does not discriminate. As a six-year breast cancer survivor herself and newly appointed President of S.O.A.M of Wilmington, DE, her passion to empower woman does not just start and stop with Breast Cancer Awareness.
Through it all Darlene has been a constant source of inspiration, as she has been committed to helping people achieve their personal and financial goals as the co-founder of Life Resource Marketing. Darlene is also one of the Founders of “If I can help somebody”. A foundation which honors her late Mother Rosa Fincher. She has also been an active board member and once secretary to The Bethesda Clinic for the past 5 years. She recently spoke on a panel concerning health care reform sponsored by the American Cancer Society in which she has been affiliated with for over 5 years. The wonderful women of the White House Black Market - LBBC are featured in a layout in the October edition of “Elle” and “Self” Magazine. The photo shoot was collaboration between the White House Black Market and Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC). Living Beyond Breast Cancer, like Sisters on a Mission of Delaware (S.O.A.M.) seek to empower all woman affected by breast cancer to live as long as possible with the best quality of life. Sisters On A Mission is a 501(C) 3 African American Breast Cancer Support group that is the brain child of Cynthia Church who recently received the Presidential Citizens medal, as well as co-founders Chevalier Oliver-Berry and Gerri McIntosh.
